FLEXFLOOR serial resistance heating cables®

Serial resistance heating cables are the oldest type of heating cable. They are being used for floor heating for several decades now. Previously, they were also used for heating pipelines and technologies, where nowadays, they are mostly substituted by parallel heating cables (auto-regulating and with a constant output). 

Operation principle: 

The principle lies in a resistance wire or stranded wire consisting of copper conductors, running throughout the whole length of the cable. In practice, heating cables with lower ohmic value consist of stranded wire made of resistance copper wires and cables with higher ohmic values consist of a resistance wire wound up on a fibreglass cord. The flexibility of the cable is ensured by the right electric insulation. The basic insulation of the heating cord is mostly made of silicone rubber. Exceptionally, the fluorinepolymer insulation is used. For the main requirement laid on this insulation is the resistance against higher temperature while simultaneously maintaining the mechanical and electric solidity.

Furthermore, these heating cables are fitted with PVC insulation for common use, or XLPE insulation, which is mechanically more resistant and momentarily resistant to higher temperatures. They can be further equipped with a metal braiding for mechanical and electrical protection.

 A part of the assortment of these cables is supplied in length, which allows us to adjust the parametres of the heating loop for a specific application. The KYCYR heating cables are equipped with a return copper conductor, which enables to power the cables from one side. These cables are supplied prepared with a cold feed in an assortment of lengths and nominal outputs.

These heating cables are primarily used for floor heating and heating of outdoor surfaces.

KY - heating cable for dry environments

A serial resistance heating cable for floor heating in living spaces. It consists of a heating element and is fitted with silicone insulation and an outer thermoplastic jacket (PVC). It is not equipped with braiding, therefore it should not be used at hazardous areas such as bathrooms, outdoor environments etc.

KYCY - heating cable for humid environments

It is a serial resistance cable as KY, in addition it has a copper braiding and an outer thermoplastic jacket (PVC). It is used for floor heating, outdoor heating (ramps, stairs, sidewalks, roads), heating of subsoils in cooling chambers. As well as KY, it is supplied in length, however REVOS is able to supply completed heating loops with 3 m cold feeds on both sides. This procedure allows to prepare loops of any length, output or supply voltage. The nominal output is limited only by the maximal W/m value. Maximal supply voltage is 500 V, even higher if agreed.

KYX - heating cable for asphalt

The KYX serial resistance cable is mostly used for the heating of outdoor surfaces with installation into bitumenuous materials (asphalt). It consists of a heating element formed by wound up resistance wires. It is equipped with a silicone insulation, copper braiding and an outer XLPE jacket, which is constructed out of cross-linked PE and is momentarily resistant to temperatures up to 250°C (for cca 10min). Same as the KYCY, it is supplied in length, however REVOS can supply pprepared heating loops with cold feeds on both sides. This procedure allows to supply loops of any length, output and supply voltage. The nominal output is only limited by the maximal W/m value. Maximal supply voltage is 500 V, even higher if agreed.

KYCYR

A serial resistance heating cable as the KYCY but has a return copper conductor in addition. Connecting the heating cable and the return conductor provides a blind end on one side and enables to power the heating cable only on the other side. This makes the installation easier. KYCYR heating cables are supplied in various lengths, factory terminated with a 2.5 m cold feed. They are mostly used in heating of residential and industrial floors.
