Why to use heating

The thermal insulation around pipelines does not entirely stop the heat outflow from the medium in the pipeline, it just slows it down. So the pipeline will not freeze immediately, but only after a certain time. The essence of the function of heating cables in the heating of pipelines and technologies is in most cases to eliminate heat losses, that occur in the thermal insulations of the object in question.

This means, that it is necessary to provide as much heat as has leaked through the insulation into the environment. It is the same with maintaining the operational temperature of a medium. If we place the right heating cable under the insulation, the temperature will remain stable. Only rarely is the heat supplied to raise the temperature of the medium. In any case though, it is necessary to use the right thermal insulation. Thickness and quality affect the fixed performance of the heating cable and operating costs. 

Heating in industry

Based on the nature of the heating we distinguish:

  • protection from frost and freezing,
  • condensation prevention,
  • operational temperature maintenance,
  • heating (raising the temp. of the medium, heat supply).

Apart from pipelines, heating can apply on other components:

  • fixtures and exchangers,
  • tanks and reservoirs,
  • dopravní cesty materiálu (např. násypky, svodky, redlery, šnekové dopravníky apod.) material transport means (scuttles, ??, ??, worm conveyors).

Heating in the civil sphere

  • anti-frost protection (duct, sewage or fire pipelines)
  • udržování teploty (např. rozvody TUV, tuková kanalizace). temperature maintenance (distribution, oil sewage)
