Manual control is also possible, but is it unefficient, unreliable and uneconomical.
The preventive nature of the heating system requires a timely and precise evaluation of all conditions, which affect hoarfrost creation. The EM 524 89 – Ice and snow detector from the EBERLE group has this ability, and it will interpret the conditions for turning on based on the data from humidity and temperature sensors installed on and out of the heated surface. It is an electronic regulator especially designed for the heating of outdoor areas an gutters. It can be equipped with up to three sensors. The ESF 524 001 snow and ice sensor and the TFF 524 002 temperature and humidity sensor are placed onto the outer surface. The TFD 524 004 sensor scans the temperature of the air outside and it is best to place it above the heated surface in a screened place, so that it won´t be influenced by any thermal sources. If the conditions for hoarfrost creation pass over, the detector will switch the heating cables off. The switching off can be delayed by programme.

If we have two outdoor surfaces with different requirements for the temperature regulation regime, we can use the EM 524 90 double detector.
The EM 524 89 regulator can be supplemented with the EMSD 524 88 additonal device. This device enables the star/triangle switching of heating cables. Heating cables must be designated for a powering voltage of 400V. By switching to the star the resulting output will be one third of the previous, which provides a more fluent and economical regulation of the heating output. Furthermore, the EMSD device can monitor the flow of the heating cables by means of current transformers.
